The Beauty in Champagne
It is fitting that champagne is the beverage of choice most often affiliated with celebrating, because we now know that it can help the appearance and condition of our skin!
Because champagne and sparkling wines pass through a second fermentation process, the antioxidant properties in the grapes is further enhanced. As a result, champagne stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. We know that our skin is constantly exposed to the sun, smoke, pollution, and other agents that cause our complexion stress. It is these free radicals that are consistently robbing our skin of oxygen, which make it look haggard and in need of care. Antioxidants prevent free radicals like that from damaging our cells.
Another bonus, is that champagne contains Tartaric acid, which can lighten the skin (to help prevent pigmentation). Champagne molecules are so small that they won’t sit on our cells, and serve as an occasional alternative to using toner (and contains less alcohol than most toners).
Please note that this treatment is ideal for those with normal to oily skin, and those with dry skin should avoid it. This is because the components will help remove the excess sebum characteristic in those kind of complexions.
How to Treat
Start with a clean face. Pour the champagne into a smaller container (you should only use what would be less than an actual sip). Soak a cotton ball completely in the liquid, squeeze out the excess, and wipe your entire face and neck, making sure to get every inch. (When you look at the cotton ball, you’ll be surprised to see just how much dirt and oil was picked up!) You should feel a light, cool, bubbly touch during the process. When you’re done, continue with your regular regimen of moisturizer and treatment serums.
It is not necessary to run to the store and purchase the most expensive bottle you can find. A less expensive, simple brand will do the trick. Repeat this process no more than twice a week to obtain a radiant glow!
Extra special champagne secret: it can also be used to obtain silky, frizz-free hair! Mix a half cup of bubbly and a half cup of (not too hot) water, and massage into hair or just dip your ends into it. Finish off the process with your regular shampoo/conditioning regimen!
